ARRL Outgoing QSL Buro Service
Anthony
Luscre, K8ZT, is collecting outgoing QSL cards from club members
that he
will send to the ARRL Outgoing QSL Buro. When he gets a reasonable
sized batch
he will send them in bulk to the ARRL.
Some rules to follow:
- Only contacts with countries outside the United States are
accepted.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands are NOT outside
countries.
The general rule is that if you could mail a letter there for the
standard
domestic postal rate, then it will not be accepted.
- All cards must be sorted in DXCC main prefix order. That usually
means in
alphabetical order but not always. For example, France has the main
prefix of
'F' but uses prefixes FA-FZ, HW-HY, TH, TK, TM, TO-TQ, and TV-TX. These
would
all be sorted as though they started with 'F'. Be sure to consult a
DXCC list
like the one at http://www.cpcug.org/user/wfeidt/Dxcc/dxcc.html
to get your cards in the proper order.
- Not all countries have a QSL bureau. See http://www.arrl.org/qsl/qslout.html
for a list and a wealth of other information.
- You must include proof of ARRL membership. Either a QST label or
a copy of
your membership card.
Anthony collects cards at meetings and any other event that the club
sponsors.
You can also arrange to drop them off. Before he sends these cards out
he must merge them all together to make
one
large batch. If you don't sort your cards, he will return them to you
to be
sorted.
The service is not free. You
must pay a reasonable pro-rated fee based on how many cards you send
in. Anthony will be the sole judge of how much the fee is. The idea is
that by batching them together we can take advantage of a single
shipping fee and reduce costs. This also helps to accommodate people
who would have a batch too small to be practical.
